The history of art in his DNA.

Using a flat, poster-like technique, Salvatore Gulino borrowed images principally from Old Masters, combining them with images from another artist or popular culture. His design-focused juxtapositions have a fresh, contemporary feel while paying homage to the great artists who inspired him.

Lincoln (after Lautrec) by Salvatore Gulino

The painting above pairs the image of a vintage Lincoln automobile with a detail
from Toulouse-Lautrec's iconic lithograph, Le Divan Japonais.

Subway (after Modigliani)

Above, Modigliani's Chaim Soutine is portrayed against the backdrop of a NYC subway car.

A panel from the long-running comic strip, Bringing Up Father, by George McManus
is paired with Vincent Van Gogh's Bedroom at Arles in the painting below.

Maggie and Jiggs (after Van Gogh and McManus) by Salvatore Gulino
