Q. This painting, like Chevy (after Wood) is intriguing because it features two people, one driving and one in the passenger seat. What was the main motivation to do that?
A. It came about because of the blank space that had to be filled. Fortunately, it was easy to find another Leger figure that matched the first. In this case, one is from the Three Musicians and the other from Three Women. I think the choice of two matched people provides unity to the painting.
